ACR - post conference
5:36pm, Tuesday 13th of October 2009, by Cathryn
I've just returned from presenting with Dr Sam Hardy at the 9th Annual Association for Conflict Resolution Conference in Atlanta Georgia. The theme of the conference was Convening "Whole of Community". There were many sessions to choose from and it was great to see we got our 'fair share' of particpants for our session Artful Inquiry: A Creative and Collaborative Approach for Change and Transformation. Participants responded well to the use of creative activities to explore their professional practice in a deeper way. Given that the session was only 90 minutes we received many favourable comments and great insights in relation to working with the arts-based methods and the opportunity to reflect.
One of the participants approached us at the end of the conference to let us know how much he enjoyed the session and on a very personal level recognised how deeply happy he is. He commented that he knew it from an intellectual level and the workshop allowed him to experience that knowing in an embodied and visceral way. He came to know his happiness in another way. All I can say is what a wonderful insight to have. Thanks Daniel.
