Partnering of arts and business could also be encouraged on a more involved basis. Dr Cathryn Lloyd, principal of Maverick Minds, a Brisbane based consultancy, uses arts-based processes in business training and development. This puts arts practitioners into businesses and government organisations to stimulate creative thinking in a commercial environment. Not only does this provide income for the artists involved it also, and perhaps more importantly, engages management and employees of businesses with the arts, to learn more about how the arts work, their importance in and to business, and to the community generally. While the immediate and enduring benefits to the organisation include improved and more creative productivity, the value to the arts community is the recognition that arts and culture has a value.  We would expect that growth in this field will lead to a greater awareness of, and willingness to financially support, arts-based activities, and hope that government departments might take a lead in adopting such training and development.
